James Alan Tarkowski (born 19 November 1992 in New Moston, Manchester) is an English football player who plays for Oldham Athletic. He plays as a defender.

Tarkowski, from New Moston, Manchester[2] joined Oldham Athletic on a two year scholarship in May 2009[3] and by October was also playing for the reserves. James attended New Moston Primary School from 1997 and then moved on to Failsworth High School where he stayed until 2009.[4]

He was first named in a matchday squad on 15 January 2011[5] being allocated the number 31 shirt.[6] He made his club debut on 22 January as an 80th minute substitute in a Football League match against Brentford[7] coming on for the injured Neal Trotman.[8] Tarkowski made his full debut for the Latics on 12 March 2011 in a League One match against Leyton Orient where they lost 1-0.[9]

In April 2011 Oldham announced he had been awarded a professional contract[10] which was confirmed in writing by the club as a two year professional contract by the club in May 2011.[11]
